TURNED IT UP FOR GIRLS NIGHT!

Happy weekend! I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Summer time is fast approaching and that means weddings, boozie brunches early dinners with friends or family that carry on into the night with rosé or mojitos in hand. So, with these occasions in mind, I love having those summer staple dresses that can be worn to any or most of these events and for everyday activities. It’s just a huge plus if it can transition you from day to night of course!

Here was yesterday girls night out look featuring one of my new favorite dresses of the season, from one of my most favorite brands…

What I’m wearing…

Dress: Faithful The Brand, Shoes: ASOS, Belt: Zara, Bag: Clare V & Earrings: Shashi

SUNDAYS ARE NEVER COMPLETE WITHOUT A FACE MASK!

So pre haircut, as you can tell, I tested out Cocovits charcoal face mask and coconut oil to see what the craze was all about- I loved it! With summer coming to an end coconut oil has so many benefits to sun damaged skin and hair and I highly recomend trying these products in particular to help save any damages from that hot summer sun! I’ve noticed a difference in both my hair and skin from using these products, it’s amazing! Coconut oil in general has so many benefits for your skin and hair- it’s deeply nourishing, reparative and has major strengthening benefits.

Even though the end of hot weather can be good for our skin, in a way, you still need to consider your beauty routine in lower temperatures when winter rolls in as well. When these lower temperatures eventually start here in Bermuda, they can also have an impact on your skin’s moisture levels, and often it’s a struggle to keep its glow all day long if you aren’t keeping your skin properly moisturized. If you don’t want to end up crispy like autumn leaves, you really must do something about it. What is the secret to keep your skin soft as a peach in the winter just as much as the summer, then? Go for a quality moisturizing mask and moisturizing oil, like Cocovit, to take care of hydration before Fall.

When choosing a coconut oil make sure you go for one that is 100% organic and raw. Cocovit coconut Oil is one of the purest oils you can get- it has not been altered with chemicals, which I love, and you can use it for pretty much anything and everything!  When applying to your hair, apply from your roots to ends and comb through and leave it in for about 15 mins then shampoo. The oil contains a high percentage of lauric acid which deeply conditions hair from the inside out providing protein, thickening your hair, promoting re-growth, preventing hair loss and eliminating dandruff- sounds like a winner to me, just saying! I love using my cocovit coconut oil as an over night cream, mixed with my every day moisturizer. It is a natural anti-oxidant that helps to prevent free radical damage (known as premature ageing) for your skin- and can also be used for other things like make-up remover, cuticle softener, for shaving and more! I honestly recommend giving this product a go; and if not this one then introducing coconut oil in your life in some way in general just for all the benefits that come with using it!

IT’S ‘E’aaasy!

I’ve built a love affair for these products from the moment I bought them and I wanted to get the word out about how lovely these products really are. Not to mention they are all reasonably affordable too!

Vitamin E is an essential Vitamin and works wonders on your skin if added to your daily facial routine. I have combination skin, my t-zone is oily. After reading about The Body Shop’s Vitamin E collection and their own descriptions of the products as well as some other blog reviews really made me want to give it a go!
These amazing skincare products from The Body Shop promises to deliver a healthy-looking glow, long lasting hydration and helps protect your face against everyday damaging effects that you might not even be aware are harming your skin– what more could you wish for in your everyday super simple facial routine?

“…Vitamin E range can help to protect against pollution, cigarette smoke and UVA/UVB rays. Our popular Vitamin E cream and Vitamin E oil are suitable for all skin types and help to protect the skin from premature aging.” –The Body Shop

Those anti-aging properties are jam packed into the eye cube and lip care which I love. People often forget to take proper care of these super sensitive parts of their face, but this is often the areas where you start to age the quickest!
This mask is amazing because it offers instant results- that’s one propriety which everyone wants and looks for in a mask. I have to say this mask does exactly that. The product itself is a jelly-like cream that is really light and cooling on the skin. I have particularly been loving how cooling it is because it leaves my face feeling so fresh! I tend to leave it for a lot longer than the 10 minutes suggested and instead put a light layer before bed let it soak in overnight and my skin feels amazing in the AM!

The moisturizing cream is perfect for everyday and Vitamin E helps to ward off dryness and keep skin hydrated. It helps the skin retain components that keep it hydrated for longer. I usually prefer moisturisers in a pump-bottle, but on a positive side, these masks and moisturizer in a tub means you can be sure that you use up every last drop of product before you have to run to the store and grab some more.

Both the toner and the moisturizer absorbs so quick into my skin, allowing me to easily be able to carry on with the remainder of my morning makeup routine right after! Between all these Vitamin E products they will give your skin a quick boost before you leave the house in the morning, and one that I would highly recommend to all skin types to try! So sensitive skin girls and those girlies with combination skin, I think this Body Shop Vitamin E collection has you covered! I highly recommend everyone to give these products a go!

6 Resolutions for Two Oh Sixteen!

After recovering from a tiny little huge hangover from New Years, it’s finally time to sit and write this first post of 2016. It’s the first Monday of 2016 I’m starting the 2016 blogging year in the most cliche way: listing down my New Year’s resolutions! It’s nice to finally sit down and have a think about what 2016 means for me, what I want to achieve, when I want to achieve it by, and also taken a little reality filter too … just to make sure i’m not dreaming of things i’ll never quite be able to stick to.

1. The typical fitness resolution:

This last year I really let myself down when it comes to health and fitness, having been a committed cheerleader/gymnast throughout my life (during high school and then running a team and being captain for my uni team before leaving uni), a gym & spin frequenter, and generally living an active life style, the last year has seen all my healthy living fade away (sadly I have no real excuse for it really). 2016 is the year to kick start my healthy lifestyle again, not to mention because I want to get rid of the excess weight I’ve gained over this Christmas holiday but also because I want to ensure i’m living the healthiest possible lifestyle I can at the moment. I’m actually not an unhealthy eater so I more so need to concentrate on fitness and toning this year. This year I want to sign up to regular spin, kickboxing or pilates classes and wishful thinking all of them, which I’ll attend each week, as well as aim to go to open gym sessions at the gymnastics gym here and not do some crazy weight loss diet but instead focus on a more healthier lifestyle.

2. Get up early!:

“Wake up an hour earlier to live an hour more!” Some times this is totally not ideal, but if you get up with the time needed to actually do your make-up, style your hair and eat breakfast without running around like a crazy women, you will feel calm, cool, collected and ready to tackle the day when you finally arrive at work. If you take the time out to adjust to a healthy routine and taking care of yourself in the morning, the more likely you will feel better about yourself and feel more productive both in your daily life and hopefully at your job.

3. Blog goals:

I love blogging and I genuinely invest everything into this little space sometimes. So pretty self-explanatory but I’d really like to get better at my photography skills in 2016. I really enjoy taking photos but often feel that my photos aren’t up to the right standard for the blogging world, especially night/ indoor photos and this is something I’d like to change this year. Might even take up a class or two! I think the most important blog goal would be to create a better posting schedule this year. Not been my organized self which has meant my posting schedule went out the window. This year I’d like to get back into a routine and get back to being more organized as a whole!

4. Saving and investing in quality staples:

This is probably going to be the hardest for the shopaholic in me but instead of wasting my money on more fashionable and current season trends which will no doubt go out of style in a month or two, I’d like to buy one or two key pieces every once and a while instead that will stand the test of time or can be key transitional pieces, something like a classic leather jacket, a timeless neutral heel or a good quality handbag. Now that I’m finally out of education and into the real working world, it really is time I started saving. My main saving goal is to save to be able to travel more. (Finally make it to New York for the first time, still can’t believe I’ve never been!) There’s so much of the world I have left to see and this year I’d like to make the effort to see more of it or at least save towards it for years to come.

5. Keep in touch:

I am the worst person for keeping in touch with friends, and now that we live all over and have crazy busy separate lives its more important than ever. I’d like to make more of an effort this year to keep in touch with all of them, both near and far.

6. Start as you mean to go on:

If you want to start this year being super productive or by really taking care of yourself then now is the time to do it and I really want to stick by this this year! As cliche as it is a new year is it is always the perfect time to get into great new habits. There are always going to be things that come along that are out of your control but, I defo believe that many of us can control how we start our year off!

OKAY 2016, LET’S SEE WHAT YOU GOT!

MY KIND OF 5 A DAY

Any girl who loves makeup knows there is at least 5 products they can’t live without, your every day essentials you could say! Choosing just 5 products proved difficult because I love them all, however these are defiantly the 5 products I probably couldn’t go a day without when doing my daily makeup routine.

1. Eyebrows – Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in Ash Brown

I’ve tried so many brow products to finally find the perfect one! I swear by this product and any brow related products by Anastasia Beverly Hills. So easy to apply, last all day and offers a good variety of color options to choose from to best suit your brows. I use a simple eyebrow staight edge brush to apply and a brow brush to blend and shape my brown. It’s amazing how I could honestly say doing your eyebrows is a must, it absolutely completes a look and sharpens your face that little bit more. “Eyebrows speak louder then words!”

2. Foundation – NARS Sheer Matte Foundation and
Makeup Forever Ultra HD

(I totally cheated and picked both because I couldn’t choose between them!)

I couldn’t choose between these two products because they are both so amazing! I must admit I do use my NARS foundation a lot more then my Makeup Forever Ultra HD mainly because the shade matches better at the moment for my personal everyday look, plus I like to save my Makeup Forever for events, nights out or just days I know I want my make up to last! I would defiantly say the Makeup Forever foundation is lighter weight and last longer through the day then my NARS foundation but they equally have their benefits and I love them both! I tend to switch up between these two foundations on a daily basis, but out of the many foundations I have tried, NARS and Makeup Forever foundations are my ultimate faves and the most consistent in achieving the look I like. I would defo recomend trying these products if you haven’t before!

  3. Eyeliner – Kat Von D Ink Liner in Tooper

This is a new product for me but so far I’m loving it! I swear there’s a constant love hate battle I’ve had with different eyeliners I’ve personally tried before but I think with this Kat Von D one I have finally found one I can hands down say I love and would recomend to any girl who loves your classic winged liner. I really don’t like when an eyeliner is meant to be black but seems to fade so quickly once applied, like what was the point and the next think you know I’m in the mirror again trying to go over it and it just is a never ending battle! Not this beaut though! It wears well all day and makes winged eyeliner less of a scary task to approach at 7am because of the easy applicator felt tip.

 4. Contour – NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

So I’m pretty sure not everyone would agree with using this product for contouring but I defiantly thought I’d give it a go simply because of the way it allows for easy application along the cheek bone, ideal for contouring! Pick a few shades darker then you normally would, apply a line on either side of your face along the bottom of your cheek bones and other essential contouring spots on your face that you feel necessary and blend with your favorite concealer and it helps create the desired contour effect.

5. Mascara – Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara

“The only drama I enjoy in my life is in my lashes!” I’m constantly trying new mascara I’m currently loving this one! I’m one of those people that love a thick chunky brush applicator and one that’s gona create a dramatic full lash effect! Even if I have none of my other makeup essentials with me for a day, I’m sure you’ll always find a mascara in my bag ready for when ever needed! That’s for sure!
